Design Concept and Intended Use

This project was developed to meet precise requirements: the possibility of single-handed daysailing combined with occasional racing, while also offering a minimum level of comfort for overnight stays. The concept focuses on simplicity, safety, and versatility without compromising sailing performance.

Project 2014

Built 2015

Construction, Transportability and Ballast

Designed to fit inside a standard 40-foot container, the boat can be easily shipped worldwide. The hull is built by Cantiere Navale De Cesari in Milano Marittima, Italy, using three layers of cross-laminated mahogany combined with plywood and cedar. With a draft of 220 cm and a total ballast of 700 kg, representing more than one third of the boat’s displacement, the design ensures excellent stability while maintaining a balanced, non-extreme performance profile.

Tradition, Technology and Durability

By integrating the historical expertise of Italian shipwrights with modern West System © epoxy resin technology, the De Cesari shipyard achieves a laminated wooden structure with outstanding mechanical properties and long-term durability. Compared to fiberglass construction, wood-epoxy boats are not disposable, are free from osmosis and delamination issues, and benefit from superior rigidity and low density—qualities that make them fast, strong, and exceptionally long-lasting.

Deck Layout, Safety and Interior Arrangement

The boat features good stability, a self-tacking jib, and a clean, optimized deck layout to ensure safe and efficient maneuvers. Below deck, it is equipped with a small inboard diesel engine, a toilet, a compact sink, and accommodation for two to four berths using the dinette, providing essential comfort in a compact space.
